The 3 Stages of Treatment

Acute Phase

Once a diagnosis has been established and you have been advised of your treatment schedule, we work with your body to reduce pain and dysfunction, and increase movement.

Strengthening Phase

At this stage we incorporate at home exercises and intrinsic muscle building techniques, as well as continuing treatment of the initial condition. This is to strengthen the core muscles surrounding the spine, and to reduce the risk of re-injury.

Maintenance Phase

Once a patient is out of pain, and stability has returned to the spine we recommend maintenance care, where we arrange a ‘check-up’ of the spine to address any problems before they arise.

How long each of these phases last will depend on a number of factors such as:

  • Age of the patient
  • Length of condition
  • Severity of condition
  • Patient compliance of the treatment schedule
  • Many other lifestyle factors
