There are a variety of reasons why someone may decide to visit a chiropractor. Here at Ayr Spinal Care we see a number of cases. Back Pain, neck pain, jaw pain, even issues with golf injuries or problems that require a babies chiropractor.

With so many people heading to a chiropractor to help with their pain, it seems that this is an option that can really work out. But is this really the case? Do chiropractors really work?

What is a chiropractor?

Before we can take a look at whether or not a chiropractor can help, the first thing to understand is what they are. A chiropractor is a practitioner who uses their hands in order to relieve pain, discomfort and mobility issues that are related to bones, muscles and joints. It is seen as a complementary medicine rather than a conventional medical treatment, however this doesn’t mean that it is not useful in treating a range of issues.

Why might you visit a chiropractor?

As we have already shown, there are a number of reasons why someone may decide to visit a chiropractor. The main reason is because they are suffering with pain or discomfort in their joints and muscles. This includes, back pain, neck pain, shoulder pain, elbow pain and also pain that relates to conditions such as osteoarthritis.

What happens during your treatment?

The first thing that a chiropractor will do is asses the symptoms that you are showing. This will determine not only whether or not it is a suitable course of treatment, but also the approach to take. There are a number of different techniques that you can try and this will depend on your issue and the location of your pain or discomfort. They may use spinal manipulation, whereby the use their hands to apply force to the muscles, bones and joints that are located around your spine. They may also try moving your joints into different positions as well as stretching your muscles too.

Treatment isn’t usually painful, however it can be uncomfortable. Always discuss with your chiropractor if you feel that treatment is painful.

Does it work?

Now the big question. Does it work? The answer is yes, if you visit a qualified and fully trained chiropractor, then the treatment that they give you should be just the solution to your issues. They should work with you to formulate a plan that will take into account your own levels of pain, and then put together a treatment plan that will give you everything that you need.

Here at Ayr Spinal Care we are fully qualified to provide our treatments and we want to ensure that you are back feeling like yourself. We will continually assess your condition during the treatment period and if it is found that the current approach isn’t working for you, then we will change this to meet your needs.
